We are looking for a skilled and proactive Material Handling Engineer to support one of our major projects. The Material Handling Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, development, and implementation of systems and processes that facilitate the efficient and safe movement, storage, control, and protection of materials throughout manufacturing, distribution, and logistics operations. The role requires strong technical knowledge of material handling equipment (MHE), automation systems, and logistics flow, ensuring systems meet operational, safety, and budgetary goals.
Responsibilities
-Design and optimize material handling systems (manual and automated), including conveyors, storage systems, Automated Guided Vehicle (AGVs), cranes, and packaging stations.
-Develop layouts and detailed engineering drawings using CAD tools.
-Analyze workflows and logistics data to improve material flow, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance productivity.
-Specify and evaluate material handling equipment and vendors based on performance, cost, and safety.
-Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, procurement, logistics, and maintenance.
-Lead or support the implementation of material handling projects, from concept through commissioning.
-Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and internal standards.
-Prepare cost estimates, project schedules, and risk assessments for proposed systems.
-Support the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials.
-Conduct root cause analysis and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to material handling performance.
-Create detailed material handling reports

Required expertise
-Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Logistics Engineering, or a related field
-Extensive relevant work experience can compensate for lack of formal education.
-Min 3 years of experience in material handling system design and implementation
-MS OFFICE (typical Excel,Word)
-3D modelling/CAD
-Knowledge of Danish legislation and offshore regulations is an advantage.
-Familiarity with DNV standards is highly valued, but not an absolute requirement.
-Experience with EPC and EPCIC project models and supplier follow-up across engineering and execution phases.
-Ability to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines and vendors.
-Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Danish language skills are a plus.
